Green Baby/Toddler Event: Keeping the World Safe for Our Children

by admin

A mother’s top priority is to keep her child safe. She will do all in her power to make sure her child is healthy and is kept out of harm’s way. However, what good is that if her child has no ability to stay safe?

Every year the damage and pollution we do to the earth gets worse and worse. Instead of securing our children’s future we are damaging it. If we don’t stop with this, it doesn’t matter how much we try to shelter our kids because there’s no way we can shelter them from their environment.

In order to put a stop to this atrocity many people and companies have come up with ways to help reduce pollution and waste. Many recycling facilities have opened and laws have been made to force people to recycle. Aside from this, some companies have taken upon themselves to find ways to recycle unconventional material. A good example of this is recycling old and scrap tires. There are companies who take the old tires and recycle them for good uses.

Recycled Rubber has not only stopped harming our children, by reducing pollution, but has assisted in making the world safer for them. In a playground, if a child falls onto something like woodchips or asphalt, the damage it could cause their bodies is huge. Rubber mulch however is so shock absorbent that Ocean County officials tested their first installation of Playsafer rubber mulch by performing the egg test—dropping an egg from a 14-foot-high piece of play equipment, and watching it bounce on the surfacing below!!

The uses of rubber mulch aren’t only limited to playgrounds, there are many usages for it. Rubber mulch is used for gardening and landscaping. The advantage of this being that the mulch doesn’t fly away in the wind or move at all. It is installed once and lasts practically forever. Also it greatly prevents the growth of weeds. Rubber mulch is used as well for arena footing. The soft rubber is much better for the horse’s joints, being that it is so shock absorbent.

Recycling doesn’t have to be a burden forced onto people by others. It should be something we want to do, to keep the next generation safe. We should use more recycled products and encourage companies to find usages for products that do not decompose and create terrible pollution. The least we can do is try to make the earth a safer place for our children. We owe it to them.
