KidBean.com, an online retailer of organic baby clothing and toys, has teamed up with Soles4Souls® to assist in their efforts to donate 1 million pairs of shoes, along with other relief supplies, to victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. KidBean.com is an online retailer of organic baby clothing, toys and more. Based in Asheville, NC, the company specializes in earth-friendly, labor-friendly, vegan products for children, with a heavy emphasis on US-made products.
Soles4Souls® has partnered with KidBean.com, and other organizations, to provide the people of Haiti with emergency aid, including food, bottled water, medical supplies, tents, and baby products. For their part, KidBean.com has donated nearly 850 pairs of brand new organic children’s shoes. The eco-friendly children’s shoes were all made with fair labor and have organic hemp uppers and recycled rubber soles.
“Since this devastating earthquake, the Haitian people have been living in turmoil,” said KidBean.com founder and owner Melissa Zenz. “After viewing some of the photographs taken shortly after the earthquake, all I could think about was the Haitian children living in that chaos. In an environment covered with broken glass, raw sewage and other debris, something as simple as pair of children’s shoes can significantly improve health and safety conditions.”
From its founding in 2001, KidBean.com has been committed to supporting charities that provide disaster relief as well as non-profits that promote a more sustainable and compassionate world.
Soles4Souls has partnered with other relief organizations to transport and distribute the aid. Thirty containers of supplies, including footwear, clothing, food, water, and medical supplies have already been sent to Haiti.
